Ingredients

1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain

2 cups broccoli florets

1 medium onion, sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 inch ginger, grated

1/4 cup soy sauce

2 tablespoons oyster sauce

1 tablespoon cornstarch

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 tablespoon sesame oil

1 teaspoon sugar

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Cooked jasmine rice or noodles, for serving

Sesame seeds and sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce, cornstarch, sugar, and black pepper. Mix well and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Prep Stir-Fry Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the oyster sauce and sesame oil. Set aside.

Blanch the Broccoli: Bring a pot of water to a boil, add the broccoli florets, and cook for about 2 minutes until they are bright green but still crisp. Drain and immediately plunge into ice water to stop cooking. Set aside.

Stir-Fry the Beef: Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over high heat. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.

Cook the Vegetables: In the same pan, add another tablespoon of vegetable oil. Sauté the sliced onion for about 1 minute until translucent, then add the garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.

Combine Ingredients: Add the blanched broccoli back into the wok, along with the stir-fry sauce. Toss everything together for another minute over high heat.

Finish Up: Return the beef to the wok, mixing all the ingredients together. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.

Serve: Plate your beef and broccoli stir-fry over cooked jasmine rice or noodles. Garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.
