Ingredients

4 slices of thick-cut bread (brioche or challah recommended)

2 large eggs

1/2 cup milk (or milk alternative)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons sugar

1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for cooking)

2 tablespoons brown sugar (for caramelization)

Fresh fruit (like bananas or berries) for topping

Maple syrup (optional, for serving)

Instructions

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and regular sugar until well combined.

Preheat your non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt the unsalted butter, coating the surface evenly.

Dip each slice of bread into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well soaked without becoming too soggy.

Place the dipped bread slices onto the skillet and cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.

Once all the slices are cooked, keep them warm on a plate.

In the same skillet, add the brown sugar and an additional touch of butter. Allow it to melt and bubble for about a minute.

Place the warm French toast slices back into the skillet, turning them over carefully so they get coated with the caramelized mixture, cooking for another minute.

Serve warm, topped with fresh fruit and a drizzle of maple syrup if desired. Enjoy your delightful caramelized French toast!
