1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 large egg

2 teaspoons minced garlic

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Cook the Pasta Shells: In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach, ricotta cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Fill the Shells: Carefully stuff each cooked pasta shell with the spinach and ricotta filling, using a spoon to pack it in gently.

Assemble the Dish: In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom. Arrange the stuffed shells on top of the sauce in a single layer. Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the stuffed shells and sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake: Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.

Serve: Let the dish cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.
