Ingredients

4 ripe bananas, sliced diagonally into ½-inch thick pieces

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon cinnamon (for frying)

½ cup milk

1 egg

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Vegetable oil (for frying)

For the Cinnamon Butter Sauce:

½ cup unsalted butter

½ cup brown sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon

Pinch of salt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Prepare the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until combined.

Heat the Oil: In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom by about 1 inch. Heat the oil over medium heat until it reaches about 350°F (175°C).

Fry the Bananas: Dip each banana slice into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered bananas into the hot oil, frying them in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove the bananas with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Make the Cinnamon Butter Sauce: In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Stir continuously until the sugar dissolves and the mixture becomes smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

Serve: Arrange the fried bananas on a serving platter and drizzle generously with the warm cinnamon butter sauce. Serve immediately for the best flavor and warmth.
