Ingredients

2 pounds chicken wings

1 tablespoon lemon zest

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice

3 teaspoons black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

1 teaspoon smoked paprika

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons olive oil

Optional: Fresh parsley or lemon slices for garnish

Instructions

Prep the Wings: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Rinse the chicken wings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. This step is crucial for getting crispy wings.

Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and olive oil. Whisk together until well mixed.

Marinate the Wings: Add the chicken wings to the bowl and toss until all wings are well-coated with the marinade. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes (or up to 4 hours for more flavor).

Prepare for Baking: Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top of it. This will help air circulate around the wings, making them crispy. Arrange the marinated wings in a single layer on the rack.

Bake the Wings: Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until the skin is crispy and the wings are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C). Turn the wings halfway through cooking for even crispiness.

Finish with Honey: While the wings are baking, heat the honey in a small saucepan over low heat until it becomes runny. Once the wings are done, remove them from the oven and drizzle the warmed honey over them. Toss the wings gently to coat evenly.

Garnish and Serve: Transfer the wings to a serving platter. Optionally, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley or add lemon slices to the platter for decoration. Serve hot and enjoy!
